Zab Judah Tickets

Zab Judah is scheduled to fight Vernon Paris (26-0-0, 15 KOs) in a 12-round IBF junior welterwight eliminator fight on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Aviator Sports Complex in Brooklyn, New York. Paris who has decent punching power and a lot of natural talent had a big win in August 2011 when he defeated Tim Coleman by 7th round TKO. Its interesting to note that Paris who is from Detroit dubbed the US murder capitol survived a stabbing in 2008 and a shooting in 2006 and fights with bullets still lodged in his back and thigh. Judah who is coming off an excuse filled loss to Amir Khan in July 2011 really needs to win this fight with Paris if he plans to continue his career. Judah vs Paris is being promoted by Kathy Duva of Main Events and will be televised live on the new NBC Sports boxing series.

Zab "Super" Judah

(41-7-0, 28 KOs)

Zab Judah, a gifted athlete with hands almost as fast as Mayweather, the ability to throw rapid fire combinations like Manny Pacquiao, doesn't have the best chin in boxing, is immature and can often be his own worst enemy.

Zab Judah lost by 2nd round TKO to Kostya Tszyu on Saturday, November 3, 2001 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. In round two Tszyu hit Judah with a straight right, knocking him flat on his back with his head hitting the canvas hard. Judah, attempting to beat the count rose almost immediately, albeit clearly staggered he does the chicken dance and stumbles and falls onto the canvas again. Referee Jay Nady waved off the fight at 2:59 of round two. Judah, pissed at the stoppage shoved his gloved fist into Nady's throat then went to the corner and picked up his stool and threw it across the ring at Jay Nady. The Nevada State Athletic Commission fined Judah $75,000 for the incident and suspended him for six months.

Zab Judah vs Floyd Mayweather Jr

On April 8, 2006 in an IBF and IBO Welterweight title fight at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Zab Judah classlessly deliberately hits Floyd Mayweather Jr with a vicous low blow followed by an intentional illegal rabbit punch to the back of his head. Judah doesn't go to his neutral corner as directed by referee Richard Steele and engages in the riot that broke out inside the ring. The Nevada Athletic Commission fined Judah $100,000 for his breach of ring rules and participation in the riot and revoked his license for a year mindful of his previous incident.

Judah lost his fight against Puerto Rican WBA welterweight champion Miguel Angel Cotto by way of 11th round TKO at The Garden on Saturday, June 9, 2007. Although Judah may have lost the bout but he fought undauntedly, displaying a lot of heart and earned some respect back from boxing fans in doing so.

Zab Judah beat Ryan Davis (20-7-2, 8 KOs) by 12-round unanimous decision in a vacant IBC light middleweight title fight on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at Casablanca Casino in Providenciales. The judges scores were 119-109, 119-109 and 118-110 all for Judah.

In his previous fight on September 7, 2007 at the Hard Rock Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi on ESPN Friday Night Fights 2007 season finale, Zab Judah beat journeyman Edwin Vazquez (22-11-2, 8 KOs) by 10-round unanimous decision victory.

Judah lost his fight against Joshua Clottey (35-2-0, 20 KOs) by 9th round technical decision on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at The Palms in Las Vegas, Nevada. There was an alledged clash of heads that opened up a cut over Judah's right eye. Although the cut was not deep enough to stop the fight Judah claimed he could not see. The doctor ordered the fight stopped and it went to the scorecards. The scores were 85-86, 85-86 and 84-87 all for Clottey who in addition to his victory captured the vacant IBF welterweight title.

On Saturday, November 8, 2008 at Madison Square Garden in New York, Zab Judah beat Ernest Johnson (18-2-1, 7 KOs) of Chula Vista, California by 10-round unanimous decision in a welterweight bout on the Calzaghe vs Jones undercard. Scores were 99-91, 98-92 and 98-92. During the early rounds Judah looked good with quick hands throwing rapid combinations. In round three Judah was cut badly over both eyes from accidental headbutts which put a damper on his performance the rest of the fight.

Zab Judah defeated veteran Ubaldo Hernandez (22-20-2, 10 KOs) by 2nd round TKO on Friday, November 6, 2009 at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Judah knocked down Hernandez twice in the round one and finished him off with a body shot at 0:35 of round two. The PPV fight card dubbed Road to Redemption promoted by Fernando Vargas also headlined Joel Casamayor.

Judah beat Jose Armando Santa Cruz (28-5-0, 17 KOs) at 2:33 of round three by TKO in a light welterweight fight on ESPN2 on Friday, July 16, 2010 at the Prudential Center, Newark, New Jersey. A left upper cut by Judah put Santa Cruz on his butt on the canvas. Santa Cruz beat the count but was obviously hurt and Judah backed him up to the ropes and pounded him with combinations until the referee stopped the bout. This was Judah's first time fighting at Newark's Prudential Center and the crowd was treated to a great performance that the critics could not criticize. Judah was precise, fast and dangerous. Santa Cruz was coming off two wins by 3rd round knockout and is probably best known for losing a very controversial 12-round split decision to Joel Casamayor on November 10, 2007 which many ringside felt was the worst decision of the year.

Zab Judah beat undefeated Argentinian Lucas Martin Matthysse (27-1-0, 25 KOs) by a close split decision in a NABO light welterweight title fight and IBF light welterweight eliminator on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Prudential Center, Newark, New Jersey. Scores were 114-113, 114-113 and 113-114. Knockout-artist Matthysee downed Judah in round ten and landed 60 power punches to Judah's 24 in the last three rounds. Had power punching Matthysse started to unload and go after Judah earlier in the fight he would have taken it but Judah had rounds in the bank.

Judah beat South African Kaizer Mabuza (23-8-3, 14 KOs) by 7th round TKO on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. In addition to his victory Judah took home the vacant IBF light welterweight title. Judah, now training with Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker whom he has often been compared to because of his hand speed and footwork displayed even more impressive hand speed and defensive skills before putting Mabuza out on his feet in round seven with a barrage of punches.

Zab Judah lost by 5th round KO to Amir Khan (26-1-0, 18 KOs) in an IBF and WBA World light welterweight title fight at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, July 23, 2011. Judah was never really in the fight. Khan reduced him to being a defensive fighter by hitting him repeatedly with combinations round after round. In round five Khan hit Judah with a right to the head followed by a right uppercut to the body that put Judah down for the count. Afterwards Judah complained that it was a low blow but instant replays showed that it was a legal blow landed at the belt line. In addition to losing the fight Judah also lost his IBF light welterweight title.
