Yan Barthelemy
Yan Barthelemy from Havana, Cuba defected to Columbia in December 2006 along with Cuban national boxing teammates Odlanier Solis also from Havana and Yuriorkis Gamboa from Guantanamo. The trio had been training in Venezuela with the Cuban team when they defected.
Barthelemy, a southpaw and 2004 Olympic gold medalist signed with promoter Ahmet Oner of Germany's Arena Box Promotions along with Solis and Gamboa. Golden Boy Promotions has also signed co-promotional deals with Barthelemy.
Barthelemy made his pro debut on April 27, 2007 at the Arena Gym in Hamburg, Germany against Russian Ravil Mukhamadiarov winning a 4-round UD. In his second pro fight on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at the Sport Salonu in Ankara, Turkey, Barthelemy beat Ukrainian Gennadiy Delisandru by PTS.
