Twin River Boxing

Twin River, located in Lincoln, Rhode Island is becoming the new Mecca of boxing in New England. You no longer have hassle driving all the way to Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun to see a good fight. Over the past year Twin River has hosted a half dozen boxing shows including two that were broadcast live on ESPN2 Friday Night Fights.

Twin River hosted its first fight card on May 11, 2007 promoted by Jimmy Burchfield of CES Boxing. Peter Manfredo Jr was the featured fighter. Five weeks earlier Manfredo had lost a fight to Joe Calzaghe in the 3rd round by early stoppage. Manfredo got a chance to fight this time beating game Ted Muller in a convincing manner by 9th round TKO. »

Twin River's First Fight Card (continued)

Peter Manfredo Jr vs Ted Muller at Twin River Event Center on Friday, May 11, 2007. Jimmy Burchfield's card consisted of seven fights. The matchmakers were Chris Middendorf and Mike Marchionte. Manfredo (27-4-0, 13 KOs) beat Muller (19-11-2, 9 KOs) by 9th round TKO.

Twin River and Jimmy Burchfield of CES Boxing First Blood are making history by hosting and promoting the first sanctioned professional mixed martial arts show in Rhode Island on September 17, 2010. Rhode Island is the 41st state to legalize and sanction professional mixed martial arts fighting.
