Sam Soliman former contestant and bronze metal winner of The Contender Season 3 boxing reality show beat Australian Shannon McMahon (16-6-1, 6 KOs) by 11th round TKO on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Racecourse Reception Centre in Moonee Valley, Victoria, Australia. In addition to his victory Soliman picked up the vacant WBF middleweight title. Soliman now wants a chance to fight IBF middleweight champion Sebastian Sylvester of Germany.

Sam "King" Soliman
Sam Soliman caught the crowds attention in the US on December 10, 2005 when he fought Winky Wright at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville. Although Soliman lost to Wright by a 12 round unanimous decision he got a standing ovation. Soliman, a bundle of energy threw 1,260 punches during the fight which was twice as many as Winky but landed 32 percent less. An awkward and elusive fighter Soliman proved not to be an easy win for Wright.
Sam Soliman, a contestant on The Contender Season 3 boxing reality show beat Wayne Johnsen (17-3-0, 9 KOs) by 6-round unanimous decision on November 6, 2007 at TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, Massachusetts winning a bronze metal in The Contender finale.
Prior to being a contestant on The Contender, Solimon had lost a fight to Anthony Mundine by 9th round KO on March 7, 2007 in Sydney, Australia, after being downed once in round two and three times in round nine (the 3 knockdown rule was in effect). This was Solimon's second loss to Mundine. Solimon had previously lost to Mundine by 12-round split decision on September 3, 2001 at the Entertainment Centre in Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia.
Before his fight with Mundine, Solimon had won a 10-round majority decision over middleweight Enrique Ornelas at the Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, California on November 17, 2006. Ornelas suffered a large gash over his left eye by an unintentional headbutt in the 4th round and Soliman stumbled to the canvas which was ruled a knock-down. Soliman had a big 6th round and poured it on for the rest of the bout winning by a close decision.
Soliman lost by 12-round unanimous decision to WBA super middleweight champion Anthony Mundine (32-3, 23 KOs) in a rubber match on Tuesday, May 28, 2008 at the Vodafone Arena in Melbourne, Australia. The official scores were 117-112, 116-112 and 116-112 all for Mundine. This was Solimon's third loss to Mundine.
