Roseland Ballroom Boxing (continued)
Roseland Ballroom, also known as the Roseland Dance City located between Broadway and 8th Avenue is a colorful midtown Manhattan venue with an enormous amount of history behind it. Built in 1922 as a ice skating rink it was later converted into a roller rink in the 1950s. In the 1980s Roseland began holding regularly schedule disco nights on its quarter acre dance floor. During that period Roseland became known as a dangerous venue due to gang related killings that occurred in and around the club on disco nights. In 1996 under new ownership the Roseland Ballroom underwent extensive renovation. Now the old time dancehall with its hardwood floors, elevated stage and room circling balcony is home to a variety of events such as concerts, private parties, ballroom dancing and boxing.
