Ricky Hatton - Uncensored Mayweather-Hatton Press Conference
Hatton and his crazy British fans crossed the pound once again on Saturday, December 8, 2007 for the much-anticipated Hatton-Mayweather fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. It had always been a dream of Hatton's to fight there because of its boxing legacy. Unfortunately for Ricky referee Joe Cortez's intrusive overly officiousness ruined the fight. Within seconds Cortez was breaking up the action which suited Mayweather but broke up Hatton's flow. In round 6 Hatton had a point deducted (rather unfairly) causing him to put on the gas leaving himself open. Mayweather got lucky landing a left hook to Hatton's chin in round ten which left Hatton dazed only to get up and be downed again losing the bout at 1:35 of round 10 by TKO.

At 0:48 of round 11 referee Kenny Bayless stopped the bout when Malignaggi's corner threw in the towel after seeing their fighter take a shalacking round after round. Although trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr has only been with Hatton for one training camp it was obvious that it was a good switch for Hatton who turned back the clock fighting as well as he did in 2005 when he beat Kostya Tszyu who retired on his stool in round 11.
