Ricardo Mayorga Tickets

Ricardo Mayorga, the beer drinking, Marlboro smoking brawler fought his best fight in years sending Fernando Vargas into retirement with a 12-round majority decision victory at the Staples Center in LA. Mayorga dropped Vargas late in round one, put him back on his heels in round two and dropped him again at the end of round eleven. Scores were 113-113 draw, 114-112 and 115-111 for Mayorga. Mayorga took home the WBC Continental Americas super middleweight title in addition to the win.

Next up for Mayorga is a light middleweight bout with Shane Mosley at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 11th. Mosley was scheduled to fight Zab Judah this past May but Judah suffered a self-inflicted injury and the fight was cancelled.

Ringside Las Vegas: On May 06, 2007 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena trash talking Ricardo Mayorga got silenced by Oscar De La Hoya by way of a 6th round TKO. De La Hoya caught Mayorga with a left hook followed by a right cross to the jaw. Mayorga rose but De La Hoya unloaded on him causing Referee Jay Nady to stop the fight.

Vargas-Mayorga Prefight Rumble

Vargas and Mayorga get a headstart on their slugfest at a press conference formally announcing their fight on August 10, 2007. Mayorga ended up with a cut over his left eye and a bloody lip, Vargas a cut on his hand.
