Ricardo Torres lost to Kendall Holt (24-2-0, 13 KOs) by 1st round knockout on Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Nevada. Torres knocked down Holt twice in round one. Torres was knocked out seconds later from what appeared to be a headbutt from the top of Holt's head which rocked him back into the ropes. As Torres laid at the bottom of the ropes Holt hit him in the back of the head with a right hand. Torres lost by fight by KO. The fight which was a rematch was aired on Showtime. Torres had granted Holt a rematch after Holt complained of an early stoppage and getting hit with cans from the crowd when they fought the first time in Torres hometown of Barranquilla, Colombia.

Ricardo Torres beat Kendall Holt (22-2-0, 12 KOs) by 11th round TKO at the Salon Jumbo del Country Club in Barranquilla, Colombia on Saturday, September 1, 2007. Torres stalked Holt who ran a good portion of the fight. Torres was down in round six but came back and took control of the fight over the later rounds. Torres hurt Holt in round eleven. Holt beat the count but looked glassy eyed. Moments later the referee stopped the fight after Holt had taken punishment against the ropes. It was Torres second successful defense of his WBO light welterweight title.
