Planet Hollywood formerly known as the Aladdin is one of the best places to see a fight in Las Vegas. The Theatre for the Performing Arts at Planet Hollywood seats between 2,500 to 7,000. Its comfortable mid-size gives you a good view of the box ring without having to pay for ringside seats. Bob Arum has promoted some great cards there in the past couple of years including Antonio Margarito's 74-second knockout of Manuel Gomez in February 2006 and Kelly Pavlik's exciting fight with Fulgencio Zuniga in 2005. In May 2006 the Aladdin was the site of the Tournament of The Contenders.
The Calzaghe-Hopkins fight on April 19, 2008 marked the first boxing event hosted by Robert Earl's Planet Hollywood Casino. Born in North London, Earl is serious about getting the casino into the ring and becoming a major player in the Las Vegas fight scene. Planet Hollywood is also backing Chris Byrd vs Shaun George on May 16th on ESPN2 and Ricardo Torres vs Kendall Holt on July 5th on Showtime. »

Planet Hollywood Boxing(continued)
In 1998 instead of just remodeling the Aladdin they imploded it leaving only the Theatre for the Performing Arts standing which became the centerpiece of the new razed Aladdin that opened in 2000. In 2003 when Planet Hollywood bought the bankrupt Aladdin (often was called "The Vegas Jinx" due to its mulitple owners, bankruptcies, remodels, openings, closings, etc) rather than imploding the casino for a second time they choose to renovate it in stages while keeping the casino open and preserving the 7,000 seat Theatre for the Performing Arts. With the tranformation of the Aladdin into Planet Hollywood complete and encouragement by Earl's business partner Sylvester Stallone the casino plans to start hosting boxing matches on site again. Ultimately Earl aspires to construct a larger Planet Hollywood arena.
