Peter Manfredo Jr lost by 5th round TKO to Julio Cesar Chavez Jr (44-0-1, 31 KOs) at Reliant Arena in Houston, Texas on Saturday, November 19, 2011 in a WBC middleweight title fight. In round five Chavez Jr hurt Manfredo with a right and then proceeded to batter him up against the ropes. Chavez Jr hit Manfredo with over 30 unanswered punches prompting referee Laurence Cole to step in and stop the fight at 1:52 of round five. It was reminiscent of Manfredo's fight with Joe Calazghe even to the point of claiming quick stoppage afterwards. Manfredo is said to be retiring.

Peter "The Pride Of Providence" Manfredo Jr
Peter Manfredo Jr sparred with Micky Ward as he was preparing for his fight with Arturo Gatti in 2002 and with Fernando Vargas as he was preparing for his fight with Oscar De La Hoya. In 2005, Manfredo Jr was the runner-up on The Contender boxing reality show finale.
Manfredo Jr beat hometown rival Joe Spina by a 3rd round TKO at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island on October 14, 2006. Spina's corner stopped the fight after three right hooks from Manfredo left Spina staggered and dazed.
On April 7, 2007 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, Peter Manfredo Jr got the chance to fight boxing's longest active reigning title holder, super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe whom he lost to by a 3rd round TKO. The Calzaghe vs Manfredo Jr fight was stopped at 1:30 of round three when Calzaghe delivered a barrage of unanswered punches to the corned and covered up Manfredo.
After losing to Joe Calzaghe, Manfredo Jr returned to the US and beat Ted Muller by 9th round TKO on Friday, May 11, 2007 at Twin River Event Center in Lincoln, Rhode Island. Following that win on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, Manfredo Jr won a hard fought 10-round unanimous decision over the quick, counter punching David Banks at the Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut.
On Friday, March 14, 2008 at the Twin River Event Center in Lincoln, Rhode Island, Manfredo Jr beat Shane "The Irish Hitman" Benfield by 6th round six TKO. Manfredo was coming off a 10-round unanimous decision loss to Jeff Lacy on Saturday, December 8, 2007 on the Mayweather Jr vs Hatton undercard at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Lacy had been absent from the ring for a year due to a shoulder injury.
Manfredo Jr beat Luis Lopez (14-13-1, 6 KOs) from Pasco, Washington by 3rd round RTD on Friday, May 3, 2008 at the Coeur d'Alene Casino in Worley, Idaho. Lopez was down once in round one and two more times in round three before retiring on his stool. Then on Friday, August 22, 2008 at the Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island, Manfredo Jr went on to beat Donny McCrary (24-7-2, 13 KOs) by second round TKO. In addition to hurting McCrary with a big left Manfredo Jr won the interim NABF super middleweight title. McCrary was a participant of season three of The Contenders boxing reality show having fought and lost to Sakio Bika and David Banks.
On Thursday, November 13, 2008 at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island, Peter Manfredo Jr lost to The Contender 3rd season winner Sakio Bika (27-3-2, 17 KOs) by 3rd round TKO . Bika also captured the vacant IBO super middleweight title and Manfredo Jr's interim NABF super middleweight title. Manfredo was credited with a knockdown of Bika in round two. But, Bika punished him for it by hitting Manfredo Jr with a barrage of punches that had him all but out on his feet causing the referee to stop the fight at 1:50 of round three.
Manfredo beat Walid Smichet (20-6-3, 13 KOs) by 7th round knockout in a super middleweight bout on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the Montreal Casino in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Manfredo knocked down Smichet in round three before the final knockdown at 3:00 of round seven.
On Friday, January 29, 2010 at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut, Peter Manfredo beat Matt Vanda (42-10-0, 22 KOs) by 10th round unanimous decision. In addition to his victory Manfredo also took home the vacant NABF middleweight title.
Peter Manfredo Jr beat Angel Hernandez (30-8-0, 17 KOs) by 10th round TKO on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut. In addition to his victory Manfredo won the vacant IBO middleweight title. Referee Steve Smoger stopped the bout at 1:19 of round ten after Hernandez got dazed by a double left hook. Manfredo is only the second boxer to have stopped former NABA & NABF light middleweight champion Hernandez who was coming off a 6th round win by RTD over Antwun Echols in August 2009.
Manfredo beat Columbian Jhon Berrio (15-8-0, 11 KOs) by 6th round RTD in a middleweight fight on Friday, November 12, 2010 at the Twin River Event Center in Lincoln, Rhode Island. Berrio remained on his stool after round six suspected of having suffered broken ribs. Berrio has now lost four of his last six fights and Manfredo has now won five of his last six fights. The fight card dubbed "Homecoming King" was promoted by Jimmy Burchfield of CES Boxing.
On Friday, January 14, 2011 at Mallory Square in Key West, Florida, Peter Manfredo Jr beat Haitian Daniel Edouard (23-4-2, 14 KOs) by 10-round unanimous decision on ESPN Friday Night Fights. Scores were 98-91, 98-91 and 97-92.
