Pechanga Resort & Casino, owned and operated by the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians held its first fight card at the Pechanga Entertainment Center on Friday, March 5, 1999. The card was promoted by V.I.P. Boxing and headlined Edel "Cuate" Ruiz vs Julio Cesar Cardona fighting in a WBC bantamweight title fight. The inaugural fight card was such a success that over 50 fight cards have been hosted by Pechanga since 1999 many of which have aired live on ESPN2, HBO, FOX, Showtime and TeleFutura. »

Pechanga, the largest casino in the state of California and the entire Western United States holds its boxing events in its Grand Ballroom which seats 2,000. In addition to professional boxing Pechanga also hosts the Battle of the Badges, a charity boxing event which matches up police officers, firefighters and other public safety personnel against each other in the ring. Proceeds from the event go to Cops 4 Kids & Communities, a non profit organization founded by law enforcement officers and community members to help at-risk youth.
