Pawel Wolak Tickets

Pawel Wolak lost by 10th round unanimous decision to Delvin Rodriguez (26-5-3, 14 KOs) in a rematch on the undercard of Cotto vs Margarito II on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Scores were 92-98, 91-98 and 90-100. In the first couple of rounds Wolak, the aggressor and stronger puncher landed more punches than Rodriguez. But in round three Wolak got hit with a right uppercut to the chin that snapped his head back and rocked him. In round six the two fighters fought in close with Wolak hitting Rodriquez with several good body shots and in round seven it was those punches that sent Rodriquez running. By round eight though Wolak was landing less punches than he had in their first fight possibly because of Rodriquez's uppercuts. Wolak was rocked again in round ten but made it to the final bell by holding on. A few days later, on December 7th 30-year-old Wolak announced his retirement.

Pawel "Raging Bull" Wolak

(29-2-1, 19 KOs)

Polish Pawel Wolak defeated former light middleweight champion Yuri Foreman (28-2-0, 8 KOs) by RTD at 3:00 of round six on Saturday, March 3, 2011 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Wolak's pressure fighting style made Foreman uncomfortable. He took Foreman out of his game plan which was to stay outside and box. Willing to take punches to get inside where he could do his damage Wolak kept coming foward, closing the distance, cutting off the ring and stayed on Foreman like a fly on flypaper. At the end of round six Wolak had Foreman up against the ropes battering him with a combination of punches. Wolak proved to be too much for Foreman who did not answer the bell for round seven.

Following his upset of Yuri Foreman, Wolak fought to a 10-round majority draw in a light middleweight fight with Delvin Rodriguez (25-5-3, 14 KOs) on ESPN Friday Night Fights on July 15, 2011 at the Roseland Ballroom in New York. Scores were 95-95, 95-95 and 93-97. It was a hard fought fight with both fighters fighting in close throwing non-stop punches with Rodriquez having a slight edge throwing the sharper more accurate punches.

Pawel Wolak's right eye swollen shut During the second half of the fight Wolak's right eye was grotesquely swollen shut. He couldn't see out of it. Ringside doctors were consulted, Wolak wanted to continue, referee Steve Smoger said "It's ugly, but I don't mind." and the fight went on.

Wolak, who had caught boxing fan's attention with his dominant win over Yuri Foreman in March 2011 had the crowd standing and cheering when the final bell rang. Being that the fight was such a barnburner and definitedly a top candidate for fight of the year the fight is sure to be repeated later this year.
