The Paradise Theater located in the Bronx opened in 1929 as Loews Paradise Theatre, a majestic 4,000 seat theater with Italian baroque interior. Closing in 1994, Paradise Theater reopened its doors in 2005 after extensive renovation.
Boxing at Paradise Theater began on December 9, 2005 when Cedric Kushner of Gotham Boxing promoted the first fight card at the beautifully renovated theater. A year later on December 8, 2006 Joe DeGuardia of Star Boxing put on the first in a series of fights at the historic theater showcasing up and coming boxers from the greater New York area. Its successful debut led to "Punching at the Paradise" series in 2007 and 2008. »
