The Mohegan Sun hosted its first fight card in December 1996. Since then the Mohegan Sun Casino has hosted an average of five cards a year along with top boxing promoters such as Bob Arum, Cedric Kushner, Kathy Duva, Lou DiBella, Gary Shaw and Joe DeGuardia. Many of the fights have been televised live on ESPN, Showtime and Telefura. The Mohegans along with the Southern California Sycuan and South Florida Seminoles are at the foreground of Tribal Nations becoming part of the boxing industry. »

The Mohegan Sun Casino, controlled by the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut opened in October 1996. Located in the foothills of southeastern Connecticut within 150 miles of New York it's the world's second largest casino. The Mohegan Sun features three entertainment venues one of which is the 10,000-seat Mohegan Sun Arena, home of the WNBA Connecticut Suns in which they also host major boxing events.
