Martha Salazar lost a 10-round majority decision to Vonda Ward (22-1-0, 17 KOs) in a WIBA/WBC/IBA female heavyweight title fight on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Salazar, who suffered two previous losses to Ward, one by split decision and another by unanimous decision, looked heavy and out of shape but she wasn't. She is an aggressive, skilled boxer with fast hands who hits as hard as a guy. But Ward's 9" height and 9" reach advantage makes it difficult to get insider where Salazar needed to be to land her heavy punches.
