Ringside Los Angeles: Marco Antonio Barrera beat Rocky Juarez by a split decision in a 12 round fight at Staples Center in LA on June 20, 2006. Orginally the fight had been declared a draw with Judge Ken Morita's scorecard being announced as a 114-114 draw. About 15 minutes later after most of the fans had left the arena it was announced that the scores had been added wrong and that Morita's scorecard was actually 115-114 for Barrera giving Barrera the split decision victory.

Barrera made it clear on September 16, 2006 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas in his rematch with Rocky Juarez that he was the best super featherweight as he skillfully dominated Juarez over 12 rounds. Barrera gave Juarez a boxing lesson controlling the fight with his stiff left jab as planned cruised to a unanimous decision.

Marco Antonio Barrera, coming off of two wins against Rocky Juarez lost his fight with Juan Manuel Marquez and his WBC super featherweight title on March 17, 2007 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. A dramatic fight coupled with a controversial round seven; a knockdown of Marquez by Barrera ruled a slip, a referee who didn't touch Barrera when Marquez went down then penalizing Barrera one point for hitting his opponent while down...definate rematch material.
