Luis "Latin Legend" Yanez

(4-0-1, 0 KOs)

Southpaw Luis Yanez from Duncanville, Texas had a very successful amateur boxing career prior to turning pro at 20 years old. Yanez was a 2008 US Olympian, won a gold medal in the 2007 Pan American Games and was the 2006 and 2007 US National and National Golden Gloves Champion.

Yanez is probably best known for being kicked off the 2008 USA Olympic Boxing Team for missing more than three weeks of residency training program in Colorado Springs and skipping a training trip to Argentina. After getting lawyered up his ban was reversed and he was reinstated. Yanez agreed to pay a fine, undergo counseling, make a public apology and not make any public remarks about his case. Yanez came up short at the 2008 Olympic Games and was eliminated after losing his second round bout to Serdamba Purevdorj of Mongolia.
