Lucian Bute defeated the Road Warrior Glen Johnson (51-16-2, 35 KOs) by 12-round unanimous decision in an IBF super middleweight title fight in Quebec City, Canada at the Pepsi Coliseum on Saturday, November 5, 2011. Scores were 120-108, 120-108 and 119-109. In addition to his win Bute successfully defended his IBF super middleweight title for the 9th time. Bute controlled the fight, dominating Johnson throughout the bout cruised to a victory in a luckluster fight. Maybe Bute held back because he and Johnson are friends and old sparring partners.

Lucian "Le Tombeur" Bute
Lucian Bute of Romanian nationality immigrated to Canada before making his pro debut on Saturday, November 22, 2003 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada against journeyman Robert Muhammad (7-21-1, 4 KOs) winning by 3rd round TKO.
Southpaw Bute went on to win and successfully defend the following titles during his professional boxing career; NABF light heavyweight title, NABA super middleweight title, NABF super middleweight title, WBC Continental Americas super middleweight title, WBO Inter-Continental super middleweight title and IBF super middleweight title.
Bute beat Librado Andrade (28-3-0, 21 KOs) by 4th round KO in a rematch on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada retaining his IBF super middleweight title. Bute caught Andrade with a left to the chin in round four sending him to canvas. Andrade beats the count only to get sent back to the canvas again only this time its for the count.
On Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Bute beat Columbian Edison Miranda (33-5-0, 29 KOs) by 3rd round TKO in an IBF super middleweight title fight. Bute landed a left uppercut to Miranda's chin putting him face down on the canvas. Miranda beats the count but is on shaky legs so referee stops the bout at 1:22 of round three. The Bute vs Miranda fight card was promoted by Interbox and televised live on HBO.
Lucian Bute beat former contestant on The Contender Jesse Brinkley at 2:48 of round nine by KO in a mandatory defense of his IBF super middleweight title on Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Brinkley was down in round five from a left to the body, in round eight from a left uppercut to the nose beating the count both times then again in round nine from another uppercut that ended the fight.
Bute defeated former 1996 Olympian Brian Magee (34-4-1, 24 KOs) of Belfast, Northern Ireland by 10th round TKO on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Magee was down three times from body shots (one was ruled a low blow but actually wasn't). Bute finished Magee off in the 10th round with a vicious upper cut. Magee, also a southpaw was coming off an 8th round win by RTD over Roman Aramyan (30-9-0, 20 KOs) in a EBU (European) super middleweight title bout on September 11, 2010 at the National Stadium in Dublin, Ireland. Bute vs Magee was Bute's 7th successful IBF super middleweight title defense.
Lucian Bute beat previously undefeated mandatory title challenger Jean Paul Mendy (29-1-1, 16 KOs) by 4th round knockout in an IBF super middleweight title fight on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Romexpo in Bucharest, Romania. Bute put Mendy face first onto the canvas for the count with a crushing overhand left to the chin. This was Bute's 8th successful defense of his IBF super middleweight title that he has held since October 2007.
