The Amazing Layla McCarter beat Japanese Fujin Raika (20-6-1, 8 KOs) by 10-round unanimous decision on Friday July 3, 2009 at the South Point Hotel Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada retaining her GBU and WBA Lightweight titles. Scores were 100-90, 100-90 and 100-90. McCarter had previously fought and beaten Raika by 8-round majority decision back on April 29, 2002 in an unsanctioned fight at the Shimokita Town Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
In her previous fight on Friday, August 15, 2009 at the Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, McCarter took on former kickboxing champion Loli Munoz (8-5-1, 5 KOs) of Barcelona beating her by 10-round unanimous decision retaining her GBU Lightweight title. Scores were 100-90, 98-92 and 97-93.

Layla "Amazing" McCarter
Layla McCarter trained and managed by former boxer and reknown trainer Luis Tapia fights out of Las Vegas, Nevada.
McCarter's fight on October 7, 2006 in Rochester, Washington at the Lucky Eagle Casino ended in a majority draw. McCarter had moved up in weight to fight at junior middleweight against Dakota Stone. Although Stone controlled the earlier rounds McCarter controlled the later. Stone threw more punches but McCarter's punches were heavier and more accurate.
Layla McCarter won a 10-round unanimous decision over Belinda Laracuente and the GBU female lightweight title before a sold-out crowd of over 2,000 boxing fans at The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on November 17, 2006. The Layla McCarter vs Belinda Laracuente fight made history as the first 10X3 minute rounds approved by the NSAC and GBU.
McCarter won the GBU and WBA womens lightweight titles beating Donna Biggers by a 2nd round TKO at The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on January 5, 2007. The fight made boxing history by being the first championship bout for female boxers scheduled for twelve rounds of three minutes duration held in the state of Nevada.
On April 27, 2007 McCarter lost a rematch to Melissa Hernandez. Layla McCarter beat the formerly undefeated womens IBA super bantamweight champion in their first fight but Hernandez avenged her loss winning a majority decision.
McCarter edged out an 8-round majority decision win against Dominga Olivo on June 9, 2007 at Sky Ute Casino in Ignacio, Colorado. This along with her 6-round unanimous decision victory against Angelica Martinez on May 25, 2007 puts McCarter back on the winning track after her rematch lost to Melissa Hernandez.
After taking almost five months off McCarter returned on November 2, 2007 winning a 6-round (2 minutes rounds) unanimous decision over previously undefeated New Zealand welterweight Daniella Smith at the Sky City Convention Centre in Auckland, New Zealand. Having a busy boxing schedule, a week later McCarter returned statesie beating Tammy Franks by 3rd round TKO in a scheduled 6-round fight on November 10, 2007 at the Sky Ute Casino in Ignacio, Colorado.
In McCarter's next fight on Friday, January 11, 2008 at The Orleans in Las Vegas she beat lightweight Cindy "Checkmate" Serrano by a 6-round unanimous decision. Scores were 60-54, 60-54 and 60-52.
On Friday, March 7, 2008 in front of local fans at the Orleans Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada McCarter retired Dominga Olivo on her stool at the end round five winning the GBU lightweight title. McCarter had Olivo down in round two. McCarter's fight with Dominga Olivo was a rematch. She had previously beaten Olivo by a close 8-round majority decision back on June 9, 2007.
In a close fight McCarter beat Canadian Jelena Mrdjenovich (21-3-1, 7 KOs) by 10-round split decision on Friday, March 28, 2008 at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In the 10x2 rounds McCarter landed more but Mrdjenovich landed the harder punches wobbling McCarter in the 6th and 8th rounds. Scores were 96-94, 96-94 and 94-96. In addition to her victory McCarter won the WBA female lightweight title. This was the third time McCarter and Mrdjenovich had fought each other. In their first fight on February 12, 2005 McCarter won by 6-round unanimous decision and in their second fight on June 18, 2005 Mrdjenovich won by 8-round unanimous decision.
