Puerto Rican Juan Manuel Lopez coming off his first professional loss back in April 2011 made a successful ring return by defeating chinny Mike Oliver (25-3-0, 8 KOs) by 2nd round TKO in a vacant WBO Latino featherweight title fight on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Oliver of Hartford, Connecticut was down two times in round one and a third time in round two prompting the referee to stop the fight at 2:32.

Juan Manuel Lopez beat Rogers Mtagwa (26-13-2, 18 KOs) by 12-round unanimous decision on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY. Scores were 116-111, 115-111 and 114-113. It was Lopez's 5th successful defense of his WBO super bantamweight title. The HBO PPV fight card dubbed Latin Fury 12 was promoted by Bob Arum of Top Rank and also featured Yuriorkis Gamboa vs Whyber Garcia in a 12-round WBA featherweight title fight.
Lopez beat Steven Luevano (37-2-1, 15 KOs) of La Puente, California by 7th round technical knockout in a 12-round WBO featherweight title fight on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the WaMu Theater At Madison Square Garden in New York, NY. Lopez movd up in weight from super bantamweight (122 lbs) to featherweight (126 lbs) and captured Luevano's title. Lopez vs Luevano headlined the HBO Boxing After Dark fight card promoted by Bob Arum of Top Rank.
On Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the Coliseo Jose Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Juan Manuel Lopez beat Bernabe Concepcion (28-4-1, 15 KOs) by TKO at 2:37 of round two. Lopez knocked down Concepcion in round one only to be knocked down himself near the end of the round. In round two Lopez knocked down Concepcion twice. In addition to his victory Lopez made his first successful WBO featherweight title defense.
Rising star Juan Manuel Lopez beat Rafael Marquez (39-6-0, 35 KOs) by 8th round RTD in a WBO featherweight title fight on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Marquez suffered a right shoulder injury during the fight and could not answer the bell for the 9th round. Lopez was rocked in the 4th round by Marquez and also lost a point for hitting Marquez on the back of the head. Lopez was coming on strong in the final rounds.
In an upset Juan Manuel Lopez lost by 8th round TKO to former IBF featherweight champion Mexican Orlando Salido (35-11-2, 33 KOs) in a WBO featherweight title fight on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Lopez was knocked down by a left and right to the chin in round five. Although hurt and out on his feet he beat the count making it through the rest of the round going on to survive round six and finally recovering in the last 20 seconds of round seven. In round eight Lopez once again was being hit repeatedly by left and right punches although still able to fight back and throwing punches referee Roberto Ramirez Jr jumped in and stopped the fight prematurely at 1:39. Lopez suffered his first professional defeat and additionally lost his WBO featherweight title.
