The fight took place at a catch weight of 166 pounds. It was Abraham's US debut. In their first fight in Germany, Abraham suffered a broken jaw during the 4th round from one of Miranda's devastating haymakers. Miranda lost by 5th round DQ to Cuban Yordanis Despaigne (9-1-0, 4 KOs) of Coral Gables, Florida in a light heavyweight bout on ESPN Friday Night Fights on July 29, 2011 at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nevada. Just when the fight becoming interesting in the middle of an exchange referee Vic Drakulich unexpectedly stopped fight. Why did this happen? Because at the end of round two at the bell Miranda threw a punch and Despaigne flopped down to canvas complaining of low blow (good acting because it was just a tap and not on the nuts). The referee deducted a point from Miranda. Then in round three Despaigne again complained of a low blow and the referee deducted another point from Miranda. This painted the referee into a corner, because in round two he could of just given Miranda a warning. So in round five when another of Miranda's punches strayed low (which was because Despaigne pulled Miranda's head down) the referee instead of warning Despaigne not to pull Miranda's head down stopped the fight and disqualified Miranda for a third infraction.
