Daniel Ponce De Leon, former member of the 2000 Mexican Olympic Team most notable fights have been his two with Sod Looknongyangtoy.

On October 29, 2005 Daniel Ponce De Leon won the vacant WBO super bantamweight title by a 12-round unanimous decision in an extremely hard fought fight against Sod Looknongyangtoy. Ponce De Leon was down in round two but the Mexican fighter has a lot of heart and went on to win the bout.

Ringside Las Vegas: In a rematch on July 15, 2006 on the Mosley-Vargas II undercard Daniel Ponce De Leon knocked out Sod Looknongyangtoy in only 52 seconds of round one. Ponce De Leon hit Looknongyangtoy with a straight left to the jaw that sent Sod face down on the canvas out cold. Ponce De Leon won special recognition as KO Artist for his Sod Looknongyangtoy knockout at the WBO 2006 Awards.

On October 21, 2006 the aggressive hard punching southpaw brawler Daniel Ponce De Leon relentlessly attacked his opponent Al Seeger. Ponce De Leon beat Seeger down for eight rounds until Seeger's corner threw in the towel. Seeger was down in the 4th round and penalized for holding in the 8th. Ponce De Leon walked out of the ring a winner holding both the WBO & IBA super bantamweight titles.

In a competitive fight on March 17, 2007 on the Barrera-Marquez undercard, Daniel Ponce De Leon won an unpopular 12-round unanimous decision over Gerry Penalosa. The busier fighter, Ponce De Leon threw three times as many punches as Penalosa, but landed only 18% to the more accurate puncher, Penalosa's 36%.

Ponce De Leon sent Bautista, who was coming off a unanimous decision win over Sergio Manuel Medina, down with a hard left that wobbled Bautista who made it up after a long count only to be finished off seconds later at 2:30 of round one.

Daniel Ponce De Leon, just forty-eight days after an impressive 1st round TKO over Rey Bautista dropped Reynaldo Lopez with a devastating straight left at 2:39 in round five on Friday, September 28, 2007 at the Morongo Casino in Cabazon, California. It was the first fight of a multi-fight deal between Oscar De la Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions and the Morongo Casino.

Daniel Ponce De Leon beat Eduardo Escobedo by 12-round unanimous decision on the Mayweather-Hatton undercard on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was Ponce De Leon's 6th successful WBO super bantamweight title defense since winning the vacant title on October 29, 2005 in fight with Sod Looknongyangtoy.

On Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Daniel Ponce De Leon lost to Puerto Rican Juan Manuel Lopez (22-0, 19 KOs) by way of 1st round TKO. Heavy underdog Lopez knocked down Ponce De Leon twice in round one. Although Ponce De Leon made it up both times the referee stopped the fight at 2:25 of round one. In addition Ponce De Leon lost his WBO super bantamweight title to Lopez.

Daniel Ponce De Leon beat Damian David Marchiano (15-6-1, 5 KOs) from Argentina by 4th round knockout on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the Gimnasio Manuel Bernardo Aguirre in Chihuahua, Mexico. It was Ponce De Leon's first fight back since losing his WBO super bantamweight title by 1st round knockout to Juan Manuel Lopez in June 2008.
