Cowboys Stadium Boxing

Boxing at Cowboys Stadium began on Saturday, March 13, 2010. Cowboys Stadium's first fight card dubbed The Event headlined Manny Pacquiao vs Joshua Clottey in a 12-round WBO welterweight title fight promoted by Bob Arum of Top Rank. The fight drew a crowd of 50,994, the second largest crowd in boxing history for the state of Texas.

Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys reportedly paid $7 million to host the fight at Cowboys Stadium. Jones had wanted to bring a major boxing event to North Texas for many years. He seriously wants to make Cowboys Stadium an alternative destination to Las Vegas for mega-fights. That was one of the reasons he installed the 11,520 square foot HDTV above the field at the new $1.2 billion state-of-the-art facility. »
