In his previous fight on Friday, September 21, 2007 at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, California, Arreola knocked out heavy puncher Thomas Hayes (26-2-0, 18 KOs) in the 3rd round taking home the WBC Continental Americas heavyweight title along with his win.
Arreola is one of the few Mexican-American fighters to emerge in recent years as a serious heavyweight contender. His goal is to become the first ever Mexican Heavyweight World Champion.
Arreola's upcoming heavyweight fight with undefeated challenger Chazz Witherspoon (23-0-0, 15 KOs) on June 21st will be aired live on HBO as a co-main event on a fight card headlining Andrew Berto vs Miguel Angel Rodriguez.

Chris Arreola, fighting on the undercard of Baldomir vs Mayweather on November 4, 2006 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada beat the previously undefeated Damian Wills by TKO at 2:17 of the 7th round. Arreola hammered away at the cornered Wills until referee Kenny Bayless had no choice other than to stop the fight. Additionally Arreloa had cut Wills over the right eye in round one with a left jab followed by a straight right and rocked Wills badly in round two.

On May 4, 2007 at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, the aggressive Arreola knocked his opponent Malcolm Tann out of the ring in round eight. Tann, "The Showstopper" had not been stopped in his previous 25 fights. Then on July 14, 2007 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California, Arreola, like a young Mike Tyson, destroyed Derek Berry by knockout in just 57 seconds of round one.
