Carl Froch lost by 12-round unanimous decision to Andre Ward (24-0-0, 13 KOs) in the Super Six World Boxing Classic Final on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Scores were 113-115, 113-115 and 110-118. In addition to losing the bout to Ward, Froch also lost his WBC super middleweight title. Ward smothered Froch in close so Froch could not get his punches off and stayed out of harms way on the outside so Froch could not land. Froch came on in round nine landing well but at that point it was too late.

Carl Froch of Nottingham, England made a statement in America when he defeated Jermain Taylor (28-3-1, 17 KOs) by technical knockout at 2:46 of round twelve at The MGM Grand at Foxwoods in Mashantucket, Connecticut on Saturday, April 25, 2009. At the time of stoppage Froch was behind on two of the judges' scorecards. Froch was staggered and knocked down in the 3rd round. It was the first time in his professional boxing career to hit the canvas. Froch rallied late hurting Taylor and knocking him in round twelve. Taylor beat the count but was on shakey legs. Froch then pinned Taylor in the corner rendering him defenseless with a barrage of punches prompting the referee to call a halt to the bout with 14 seconds left in the final round. It was Froch's first defense of the vacant WBC super middleweight title he won beating Jean Pascal on December 6, 2008. The title had been vacated when Joe Calzaghe moved up in weight to fight Bernard Hopkins at light heavyweight.

In Froch's next fight on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at the Trent FM Arena in Nottingham he defeated Andre Dirrell (25-1-0, 13 KOs) of Flint, Michigan by 12-round split decision in Group Stage 1 of Showtime's Super Six World Boxing Classic. Scores were 115-112, 115-112 and 113-114. Dirrell lost a point for excessive holding in round ten. Throughout the bout Froch was the aggressor and Dirrell chose to hit, run, clinch and complain to the referee about being roughed up. It was an ugly fight in which Froch gave the impression he wanted to fight and Dirrell looked like he was trying to avoid contact. In addition to his victory Froch also successfully defended his WBC super middleweight title for the 2nd time.

In a savage slugfest of Group Stage 2 of the Super Six, Carl Froch lost by 12-round unanimous decision to Mikkel Kessler (43-2-0, 32 KOs) on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the MCH Messecenter in Herning, Denmark. Scores were 113-115, 112-116 and 111-117. Froch was robbed of a knockdown in round five when the referee wrongly ruled Kessler's downing a slip. Gutted, Froch not only suffered his first professional loss but also his WBC super middleweight title. Kessler, the busier fighter simply outboxed Froch with his higher workrate.

Carl Froch beat Arthur Abraham (31-2-0, 25 KOs) by 12-round unanimous decision in Group Stage 3 of the Super Six World Boxing Classic on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland. Scores were 120-108, 120-108 and 119-109. Froch put on a world class performance outboxing and nullifying Abraham's heavy hands. In addition to his victory Froch also reclaimed his WBC super middleweight title. Froch now advances to the Super Six World Boxing Classic Semi-Finals.

On Saturday, June 4, 2011 Carl Froch defeated Glen Johnson (51-15-2, 35 KOs) by 12-round majority decision in the Super Six Semi-Finals and retained his WBC super middleweight title. Scores were 117-111, 116-112 and 114-114. The fight was fought in the middle of the ring with Johnson landing his overhand rights and Froch answering back with combinations edging the bout.
