Brian Viloria in one of his best performances defeated Giovani Segura (28-2-1, 24 KOs) by 8th round TKO in a WBO flyweight title fight on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City, Philippines. A left hook from Viloria in round two caused massive swelling of the right side of Segura's face. In round eight with Segura's vision impaired the referee stopped the fight at 0:32. Post fight examinations revealed that Segura suffered an orbital fracture. In addition to his victory Viloria successfully defended his WBO flyweight title.

Brian Viloria knows first hand that boxing is a dangerous sport that carries a high risk of serious injury. On May 28, 2005 Viloria fought Mexican flyweight Ruben Contreras at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Contreras quit in the 6th round complaining of a headache and suffered a seizure shortly there after. He was rushed to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery to remove blood clots on his brain. Contreras lie comatose for weeks after surgery. After the fight, Viloria considered giving up his career but family and friends assured him that it wasn't his fault. Three months later at the Staples Center, Contreras sat ringside as Viloria beat Eric Ortiz by a 1st round KO. Moments after winning the title fight, Viloria handed Contreras a several thousand dollar check.

On August 10, 2006 Brian Viloria, previously undefeated, lost to Omar Nino Romero by a widely scored unanimous decision. What happened to Viloria is a fighters nightmare called not being abe to get off. Viloria in a rematch with Omar Nino Romero fighting for the WBC light flyweight title fight failed to avenge an earlier 2006 loss. Omar Nino Romero vs Brian Viloria II ended in a majority draw. The scores were 115-112 for Nino and 113-113 and 113-113. Nino down once in the 5th round and again in the 9th round. Then the Nevada Athletic Commission announced that Omar Nino tested positive for methamphetamine in his post-fight drug test. He has been suspended for nine months and fined $18,750. The Nevada Athletic Commission also voided the majority draw and called the bout a no-decision. The WBC stripped Nino Romero of the title.

On Saturday, February 16, 2008 in an undercard bout on the Pavlik-Taylor card at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, Viloria won an 8-round unanimous decision over Cesar Lopez. Prior to that fight Viloria won an 8-round unanimous decision victory over veteran Jose Garcia Bernal on January 4, 2008 at the Alameda Swap Meet in Los Angeles, California. Viloria dropped Bernal in the 8th round.

Viloria beat Freddy Heberto Valdez by 3rd round KO on Saturday, May 17, 2008 in Plaza Monumental in Aguascalientes, Mexico. With this victory Viloria has now won three back-to-back fights since losing a very narrow 12-round majority decision to Edgar Sosa for the vacant WBC light flyweight title on April 14, 2007 in San Antonio, Texas at the Alamodome.

On Friday, December 12, 2008 Viloria beat Benjamin Garcia (13-11-3, 1 KO) by 2nd round TKO in a super flyweight fight at the Alameda Swap Meet in Los Angeles, California. In his previous bout fighting at flyweight Viloria beat Juan Javier Lagos (15-13-2, 4KOs) by 8-round unanimous decision on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at the Sycuan Casino in El Cajon, California. The Mexicans vs Filipinos fight card was promoted by Manny Pacquiao and Sycuan Ringside Promotions and headlined Bernabe Concepcion.

Viloria defeated Ulises Solis (28-2-2, 20 KOs) of Guadalajara, Mexico by 11th round KO on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Philippines. A big right hand from Viloria put Solis down on the canvas for the count at 2:56 of round eleven. In addition to his victory Viloria captured the IBF Light Flyweight Title which Solis had held since January 2006.

Brian Viloria defeated Jesus Iribe (15-6-5, 9 KOs) by 12-round unanimous decision on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the Neal S Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, Hawaii. Scores were 118-110, 117-111 and 117-112 all for Viloria. In addition to his victory Viloria retained his IBF light flyweight title. Viloria had not fought in Hawaii since 2003.

On Saturday, July 16, 2011 in his hometown of Honolulu, Hawaii at the Blaisdell Center, Viloria defeated Mexican Julio Cesar Miranda (35-6-1, 28 KOs) by 12-round unanimous decision in a WBO flyweight title fight. Scores were 117-110, 115-113 and 114-113. In round one Viloria sent Miranda to the canvas on his knees with a right to the body. Miranda came back in round four momentarily stunning Viloria with a left to the head. But in round seven Viloria returned the favor nailing Miranda with a straight right to the head sending into the ropes. In addition to his victory Viloria captured the WBO flyweight title that Miranda had held since June 2010. Viloria had previously held the WBC and IBF flyweight titles.
