Boxing Commissions

In the United States professional boxing is regulated by state and local boxing commissions who oversee boxing matches, license boxers, promoters, matchmakers, seconds, referees and judges. Five states don't have a boxing commission and federal law requires states to oversee professional fights. Since the Professional Boxing Safety Act of 1996 and Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act states without boxing commissions can't hold fights unless another state or the Association of Boxing Commissions oversees them.
