Andre Ward, 2004 US Olympic light heavyweight gold medalist made his pro debut on Saturday, December 18, 2004 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California beating Chris Molina (2-1-0, 1 KO) by 2nd round TKO. The fight took place on undercard of Tarver vs Johnson I.
Andre Ward won his first title, the vacant WBO NABO super middleweight title beating Jerson Ravelo (18-2-0, 12 KOs) by 8th round TKO on Friday, June 20, 2008 at the Royal Watler Cruise Terminal in Georgetown, Cayman Islands. Ravelo's corner threw in the towel after Ravelo got up from a knockdown beating the count and was getting pummeled by Ward.
On Saturday, December 13, 2009 at the Morongo Casino in Cabazon, California Andre Ward beat over matched Esteban Camou (22-5-0, 19 KOs) by 3rd round TKO. On Saturday, May 16, 2009 in front of a hometown crowd at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, Andre Ward beat dangerous power puncher Edison Miranda (32-4-0, 28 KOs) by 12-round unanimous decision. Scores were 119-109, 119-109 and 116-112. Victorious despite suffering a gash over his left eye from an accidental headbutt in round one Ward also successfully defended his NABF super middleweight and WBO NABO super middleweight titles.
In a tune up fight Andre Ward remained undefeated beating Shelby Pudwill (22-4-1, 9 KOs) by 3rd round TKO on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California.
Andre Ward beat Mikkel Kessler (42-2-0, 32 KOs) by 11th round technical decision in Group Stage 1 of the Super Six World Boxing Classic on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. The fight went to the scores cards after it was stopped on the advice of ring doctor in round eleven when Kessler suffered a cut over his eye due to a headbutt (Kessler suffered cuts over both eyes from headbutts he received from Ward). Scores were 98-92, 98-92 and 97-93. Ward earned 2 points in the Super Six tournament for his technical decision win over Kessler and also captured Kessler's WBA Super World super middleweight title.
